Deck Project Advice & Suggestions

A deck can bring so much beauty to your home and most people want a deck to entertain there family gatherings to relax and enjoy the outdoors, you can even enjoy the sun on your deck by your pool or sit and relax reading a book, what ever the reason their are so many designs and products that you see on the internet. I can only suggest some tips on your deck that you want built, here are some suggestions and advise.

  1. Most deck frames (joists, beams, posts and stringers) are framed with pressure
    treated wood.
  2. Most people up into the Northeast are installing maintence free composite and synthetic products that are made from ground up materials of wood and recycled plastic. These products are used for decking, rails, post sleeves, caps, skirt boards, risers.
  3. Let me show you some great products that are on the market today like Weatherbest, Trex, Veranda, Symmatrix , Eon Classic and so many more. If you have a product, show me and let me give you my opinion and we can compare to my products. They have deck colors like cedar, gray and redwood and railings colors like white, gray and several shades of brown. Some have more texture than others. Their are so many new products that are coming out every year.
  4. We get severe weather from intense sun, rain and snow that shrinks, splits and cracksmaterials like pressure treated. Its okay to use pressure treated wood for your frame because you don't see most of those materials, but when you use pressure treated wood for your finish products your deck looks good for a year and then its all downhill. I suggest you look at a pressure treated deck that has been up for five years and see the results for your self.
  5. Some people want to use mahogany, fir or redwood on their decks. Most look great at first, but in the long run they fade and don't shrink or crack like pressure treated wood but can be costly for materials and they will still need maintence every couple of years. It depends what part of the country you live in on wear and tear!
  6. I want your deck to be attractive and blend in with the colors of your home and be built right to your codes and be passed by your building department.
  7. Decks must be strong and you must be sure that the material you choose will be able to support loads from our severe weather. Some decks joists are built 12 inch’s on center than 16 inch’s on center. Some decking are stiffer and surer than others. Some resist sun and spills better than others. Some even resist mustard and wine.
  8. We make sure that your new deck has enough footings, using the correct screws, nails and fasteners.
  9. We take pride and joy from start to finish. Let us give you advice on products, pricing and building suppliers. Let us build your dream deck today!
